I love a good sugar cookie. The sugar cookies that are so sugary that you feel like you can’t go on eating one more bite after the first two bites are not my cup of tea. I love the kind that are just the right amount of sugar with some delicious simple frosting on top…so that I can eat the whole cookie, plus ten more! Luckily my moms best friend (Boopsie) had this exact recipe! I will share it with you because your taste buds need to experience this cookie. And they are pretty darn easy to make!
Boopsie’s Awesome Sugar Cookies
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream
1 cup butter
2 tsp. vanilla
5 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Combine sugar, sour cream, and butter. Keep butter a little on the cold side and mix it in using a pastry cutter. Add egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add half to butter/sugar batter. Mix well and ass remaining flour mixture. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thick. Bake at 425 degrees for 5-7 minutes.
4 oz. cream cheese
1/2 package powder sugar ( about 3 1/2 cups )
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
We don’t have many cookie cutters at my house, but I felt these were appropriate. I hope you can tell one of those is a house! What better describes Christmas than a house, snowball explosion thing, and a star?! I just wanted to keep these babies simple and really just go for the taste. So I didn’t dye the frosting, and I sprinkled a little powder sugar on top to make it look a little snowy:) Try them, and let me know what you think!
Also, I have a lot of these…so if you request some…I will deliver!
If you don’t have any cookie cutters, here are some options.
Christmas cookie cutters.
Please make my day and get these ones.
And there is such a cute selection here!
Oh and one last thing…these are probably best made while listening to this wonderful song. I love the Beatles and Christmas music, so this song makes me particularly happy. Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas time today!
